About The Role

Help shape the next generation of marketing professionals.

We believe great marketing starts with communication and understanding people. That's why we're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, sharing ideas and helping young people discover what they're capable of.

As a Lecturer of Marketing at EKC Folkestone College, you'll be joining a friendly, ambitious team that's building something exciting.

Our Marketing provision sits within our Creative and Business Department, alongside Architecture, Interior & Urban Design, Fashion Design & Marketing, Games Design, Virtual Production and Creative Media. Being part of this wider creative community creates fantastic opportunities for students to work together on live projects, collaborate across different disciplines and experience how creative industries work in the real world.

During your first year, you'll teach on our T Level in Business Administration (Leadership and Management pathway), before playing a leading role in the development of our new Level 3 T Level in Marketing and a new Level 2 in Marketing.

T Levels provide students with a rich and challenging curriculum, giving them a strong understanding of the knowledge, concepts and theories that underpin modern business and marketing. The exciting part of this role is bringing that learning to life. We're looking for someone who enjoys taking complex ideas and turning them into meaningful, engaging experiences through live briefs, employer projects, campaigns, problem-solving activities and collaborative work with local businesses and organisations.

Rather than relying on traditional lecture-based teaching, you'll have the opportunity to create learning that feels authentic, relevant and connected to industry. You'll encourage students to apply theory to real situations, develop creative solutions, work with clients, present ideas and gain the confidence and professional skills they'll need for successful careers in marketing and business.

This is an opportunity to help build an innovative Marketing curriculum from the ground up. You'll have the freedom to develop exciting projects, establish employer partnerships and shape a programme that reflects the fast-moving world of modern marketing while inspiring the next generation of marketing professionals.

More than anything, we're looking for someone who enjoys working with young people. Someone who wants to share their industry experience, bring fresh ideas into the classroom and help students understand what a career in marketing can really look like.

Alongside marketing knowledge, you'll help students develop the confidence, communication, creativity and professional skills employers value most. We want every student to leave college ready to progress into employment, apprenticeships or higher education with the skills and mindset to succeed.

Whether your background is in marketing, branding, digital campaigns, communications, social media, events or customer engagement, you'll have the opportunity to bring your professional experience into the classroom and help create learning that feels current, practical and genuinely inspiring.

If you've never taught before, don't worry. We have a strong track record of helping industry professionals become excellent teachers through our Teacher Academy  providing training, mentoring and ongoing support as you develop your teaching career.

Alongside our priority of excellent student experience, we also focus on our employees. Here are just some of our benefits when working for the East Kent Colleges Group:
  • Generous and Consistent Holiday Pattern- aligned with our academic calendar
  • Teacher Training- we support new teachers with a £7000 investment in your training and coaching through our in-house Teaching Academy
  • Flexible Personal Leave- Time off for your child's first day at nursery or school, moving homes and for interviews
  • Exclusive Discounts & Perks- Inc. restaurant, grocery, retail and holidays discounts as well as car leasing and tech purchasing schemes, on-site nursery
  • Wellbeing and Health Support- Generous sick pay, counselling services, discounted gym membership at Canterbury College, free eye tests and glasses vouchers, flexible support for medical appointments and return-to-work transitions
  • Competitive Pension Scheme- 28% company contribution
  • Culture and Recognition- Being part of Community Days, an Annual Staff Celebration Day, and an eco-friendly organisation dedicated to reaching net-zero by 2030

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people as much as they enjoy marketing.

You might currently work in marketing, communications, digital media, events, brand management, customer engagement, business development or another marketing-related role. Whatever your background, you'll enjoy sharing your experience, encouraging others and helping young people develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

You'll be approachable, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, employers and industry partners. You'll enjoy turning your professional experience into engaging projects and helping students understand how marketing works beyond the textbook.

You don't need previous teaching experience—we'll support you every step of the way. What matters most is your enthusiasm for developing people, your ability to communicate ideas clearly and your willingness to bring energy, creativity and encouragement into the classroom.

We're particularly interested in people who enjoy building partnerships with employers, developing meaningful industry projects and creating opportunities for students to work on genuine marketing challenges that prepare them for their future careers.

If you're excited by the opportunity to help shape a growing Marketing curriculum, work alongside a supportive creative team and make a genuine difference to young people's futures, we'd love to hear from you.
