Your Recruitment Journey

From taking the first step and registering to apply, to onboarding you as a successful candidate, we’re committed to making sure your recruitment journey is the best it can be. There are four key stages within our recruitment process. We’ll support you through each of these, giving you our firm commitment that we’ll assess you on your skills and potential.

Your Application

Once you have found the perfect job for you, click to apply and you will be guided through your registration and application.

Tell us why you are the right person for the job taking care to look at the job specification within the job description. Your answers will be scored against the job specification for the role, to decide whether you are shortlisted for an interview. It’s important to shout about your skills, experience and achievements using examples throughout.

We have a blind recruitment process, meaning the Hiring Panel cannot see your characteristics so not to consider any unconscious-bias at the selection stage. To read more about our selection and shortlisting approach, please download our Application Guidance.

Your Interview and Assessment

We use interviews and other assessment activities to help us select the successful candidate. The format will vary according to the post, and may be written, practical, computer-based or oral (all Lecturer interviews will include a micro-lesson).

If preparation is expected, you will be given written details in advance.

We will contact all interviewed candidates as soon as possible to inform them of the outcome of the interview

Successful or Unsuccessful?

Following the closing date, the recruiting manager will review all applications for the role. As the system is automated, applications cannot be accepted following the closing date of a vacancy.

You will receive an email confirming whether you have been shortlisted or not and what the next steps are.

Your Offer

If you’re offered the position, we will contact you with a conditional offer of employment on our careers portal.

The offer will always be conditional on our pre-employment checks which includes an Enhanced DBS check, online search, request of two suitable references and other Safer Recruitment checks.

Once you have accepted the conditional offer, the Resourcing Team will complete your pre-employment checks as swiftly as possible and prepare your full contract.

During this period you will be asked to complete some online forms, visit your local college for an ID check, and review some documentation. We’ll be working with you so you are ready to join us as soon as all the checks are complete.

Your Onboarding

Ensuring you’re welcomed into the team properly is really important to us and that’s why we work hard to make your onboarding as smooth and seamless as it can be.

During this time our aim is to provide you with the information and resources you need to succeed and ensure you’re immersed in our culture and understand the benefits to being part of our community. Starting with your welcome to the team, induction programme and the ongoing support and development you will receive in your first nine months and throughout your career with us.
