We’re looking for an experienced Carpenter who’s ready to bring their industry expertise into the workshop at EKC Canterbury College and support the next generation of tradespeople. If you take pride in your craft and want a role where your skills make a real impact, this could be your next step.

  • Delivering practical demonstrations and guiding learners through hands-on workshop activities

  • Teaching the techniques, standards and safe working practices used across the industry

  • Supporting students as they develop their confidence and competence in carpentry

  • Sharing your knowledge of real-world site experience to ensure training remains industry-relevant

  • Encouraging learners and helping them progress toward their qualifications and future careers

About You

As a Carpentry Lecturer, you’ll play a key role in developing confident, creative and career-ready learners; teaching, training and inspiring them to achieve their very best.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan, teach and assess engaging, hands-on lessons that bring hairdressing to life.

  • Track student progress, plan interventions and help every learner shine.

  • Deliver a range of programmes and qualifications from Level 1 to Level 3.

  • Build strong relationships with students and colleagues through excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Lead by example, inspiring learners to be industry-ready professionals.

  • A highly organised, creative individual with a passion for teaching and learning.

  • Someone with strong class management skills and a supportive, positive approach.

  • Teaching experience or training delivery is ideal but not essential. We’ll support you through our Teacher Academy, offering coaching, digital skills support and full training.

Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. (Lecturers must be in post by 1st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval). Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification
