About The Role

Can you lead the next generation of industry talent?
 
Inspire and be forward-thinking as a Head of Built, Engineering and Automotive to lead this key curriculum area at EKC Broadstairs College.

This is a pivotal leadership role, where you will shape high-quality technical education, strengthen industry links, and create a culture where both staff and students can thrive.

As Head of Department, you will drive standards, innovation and performance across a diverse programme area, fostering a positive and ambitious environment that aspires to outstanding.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing curriculum team across Built Environment, Engineering and Automotive

  • Drive outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring an exceptional student experience

  • Shape a curriculum that meets industry needs and supports progression into employment or higher study

  • Build strong partnerships with employers and stakeholders to enhance opportunities for learners

  • Take ownership of quality improvement, achievement rates and overall performance

  • Effectively manage and monitor a delegated budget to maximise impact and efficiency

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration

About You

Our ambition is to find an experienced yet innovative and proactive individual to join our management team to take forward and shape the future of the Built, Engineering and Automotive department.
 
What are we looking for?
  • Experience in curriculum planning, development and delivery of the highest quality
  • Experience in managing the support for learners to thrive and achieve
  • Someone with a track record and genuine passion in driving up standards
  • Experience to manage and inspire a large team
  • Someone with up to date relevant industry knowledge and a good understanding of current industry practices
  • Experience and commitment to excellence, with a focus on delivery and strategic understanding
  • A degree level qualification and a recognised teaching qualification (DET/PGCE/CertEd)
  • Demonstrable excellent teaching practice
You will have a preferred specialism in Automotive, but not essential.
