Teacher Development Programme – Teacher Academy

EKC Group supports all new teaching staff, with or without prior teaching experience, through our internal teacher development programme and our Group “The Teacher Academy”.

Our teacher development programme is designed and delivered in a way that will ensure you gain all the skills that are needed to become a confident and effective teacher. Prior existing knowledge, professional experience and key competencies will be taken into account and fully utilised during the programme.

In addition to providing you with the necessary theoretical and best practice knowledge, you will be assigned a mentor / coach from our high performance teaching team to provide you with peer support you through your early career with us.

The initial stage of the programme takes the form of an Academic Induction to introduce you to the EKC Group professional standards and expectations. Once in your role you will receive developmental support including guidance with designing lesson outcomes, setting SMART targets, teaching, learning and assessment strategies and techniques for behaviour management. As the programme moves on you will receive ongoing supportive guidance on your performance. Your teaching will be observed and you will have meetings with your line manager, assigned mentor or coach.

If you do not possess a teacher training qualification, we will support you to achieve one of the range of qualifications that we deliver in-house across the Group. These include the new Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) Apprenticeship, both the Level 3 Award and Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training courses and a suite of TAQA Assessor and Verifier programmes.

EKC Training

I joined the Group as I wanted to help the next generation achieve their ambitions. In my role I’m really well placed to do that, and it’s so rewarding to help develop the skilled employees of the future. Having always wanted to be a teacher, the EKC Group have made this possible and are supporting me in working towards my Level 5 teaching qualification. I joined the Group following a stint working at Kent Police as a Police Constable, and have really enjoyed every aspect of the onboarding. The Group offers lots of training and has given me the opportunity to develop into my new career, and build my skillset as part of the team.
