About The Role

Have you thought about teaching, training and coaching the next generation, utilising your site carpentry skills?

We are looking for up to two Supply Lecturers of Site Carpentry at Broadstairs College.

In this role you will teach, train and assess students in a workshop and theory classroom setting, ensuring a high-quality learning experience. Your role will also include providing support to learners to enable them to achieve their maximum potential.

This is an opportunity to be placed on a list of supply/bank workers who will be informed if there are any staffing needs.

If you have never taught students before, this is a great way to find out if this is a career that you would like to develop further.

Please note that our Supply Lecturers are paid £17.31 per hour worked and if planning and admin is required, a further half an hour may be claimed per hour of teaching. £129.82 is therefore for rate for 5 hours teaching with 2.5 hours of planning and admin.

About You

You will have industry experience within site carpentry with first and second fix. The students are taught a variety of skills from basic hand tool workmanship through to door hanging, roof trusses, kitchen fitting and staircases.  We are looking for someone with the experience to be able to pass the skills and knowledge to students who are new to all of these skills.

You will be asked to assess and track student progress, and we will help you with this, to further plan intervention which will be a vital part of the role and ensuring all students develop the skills they need to succeed.

Ideally you will have experience of teaching or have delivered training in the workplace although this isn't essential as training will be offered to the successful applicant. You must have a positive outlook, be empathetic towards learners and have strong class management skills.

You will be able to teach these skills to Level 2 and possibly Apprenticeship level students.

Please contact the Resourcing Team at [email protected] if you have any queries about this position.

No need to spend time updating your CV, just click apply and complete our short application form. You can save your progress as you go, and we’ll review all applications and get back to all candidates after the closing date.
